Receives a Prestigious “Top Abstract” Award at the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (PCICS) International Meeting

Miami, December 12, 2016Etiometry, a pioneering leader in next-generation patient monitoring, received a “Top Abstract” award at the PCICS International Meeting for, “Using a High-Fidelity Physiologic Monitoring System to Evaluate a Clinical Protocol for Post-Operative Single Ventricle Congenital Heart Disease.”

The abstract illustrates the tremendous value that high-fidelity data capture brings to the evaluation of the effectiveness of clinical guidelines. It summarizes the results of a joint study between a major Boston pediatric hospital and Etiometry that evaluated the use of the FDA-cleared Etiometry T3 Visualization & Data Aggregation Software to track and record a patient’s physiological state for the purpose of assessing compliance to a clinical protocol as it relates to outcomes.

According to Etiometry COO Evan Butler, “This work demonstrates that the high-frequency, high-fidelity data capture in our T3 Software allows for novel analysis of clinical protocols. It shows how the Etiometry Platform provides unique insight into the effect of guidelines on clinical practice by capturing objective and clear evidence of how patient management is affected by introducing a new standard of care.”

The lead author was Dr. Michael Goldsmith, a pediatric cardiology Fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital, and it was co-authored by Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cardiac Intensivists Dr. Joshua Salvin and Dr. John Kheir and Etiometry’s COO Evan Butler and CTO Dimitar Baronov, PhD.About PCICS

First Automated Hospital-Specific Cardiogenic Shock Classification Tool for Critical Care Teams

Etiometry has received FDA clearance (K254066) for the Etiometry Cardiogenic Shock Tool: the first-ever automated solution for hospital-specific cardiogenic shock classification and tracking (aligned with each institution’s own protocols) using physiologic monitoring data. This is Etiometry’s 11th FDA clearance overall, and the only solution that automates SCAI staging directly from physiologic monitoring data. For cardiac […]

The Business Case for Clinical Intelligence in the ICU. Is it a Worthwhile Investment?

Hospital operating margins remain thin and ICU cost is one of the largest line items in any high-acuity hospital. Clinical intelligence software, used as adjunctive support for clinician-directed care, has been associated with shorter ICU length of stay, fewer unplanned readmissions, and reduced ventilation time. Despite this, many senior hospital leaders are unsure of the […]

What is Clinical Intelligence Software and is it Ready for Clinical Reality?

ICU environments generate high volumes of physiologic data and alerts. “Alarm fatigue” is well documented in the literature, and it is linked to desensitisation, missed deterioration signals, and worse patient outcomes1. Clinical intelligence software can help here. It processes patient data continuously and highlights the risk signals that clinicians have defined as important, so teams […]
