Based in Boston, Etiometry was founded in 2010 and provides next-generation clinical decision support software. The Etiometry Platform provides ICUs with actionable information through data consolidation, enhanced visualization and predictive analytics. It enables more informed decision making, improved patient care quality and decreased cost. By consolidating data from many ICU devices, the Etiometry Platform helps clinician better understand the trajectory of their patients by viewing salient clinical information on a single screen. It fosters more objective communication among care teams and provides a common platform to analyze the best course of treatment for ICU patients.
The Etiometry Platform is an end-to-end clinical data collection, analysis, visualization and archiving system that collects physiologic data directly from patient monitoring devices while analyzing it in near-real time in the context of human physiology models and proven aerospace estimation methodologies.
It enables more informed decision making, improved patient care quality, and decreased costs. The Etiometry Platform features a web-based architecture that is hosted in a hospital’s data center and protected by the hospital’s firewall. The Etiometry Platform includes:
T3 Data Aggregation & Visualization is an FDA-cleared software visualization application to collect, store, and visualize ICU data in near-real time. It includes new and proprietary data aggregation technologies developed by Etiometry to enable the collection, segmentation, and near real-time patient binding of data to support patient care.
Risk Analytics Algorithms are deployed on our T3 Visualization & Data Aggregation software. Our first FDA-cleared algorithm is the IDO2 Index Powered by Risk Analytics, which reflects the likelihood that a patient is experiencing inadequate oxygen delivery.
One of the most risky and costly aspects of healthcare is a hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and an ever-increasing number of devices have been implemented in the ICU to provide clinicians with as much data about the patient’s physiology as possible to assist them with diagnosis and warn of potentially dangerous thresholds. But these devices generate an overwhelming volume, velocity and variety of data. The value of the insight derived from this data is a function of a clinician’s:
- Previous clinical experiences
- Ability to instantly calculate multiple indicators
- Fatigue level
- Time spent with the patient
To mitigate these limitations, Etiometry has employed proven techniques that have revolutionized aerospace, process, and financial engineering—but have not yet been otherwise applied to health care. Our T3 Data Aggregation & Visualization software mobilizes our Risk Analytics Algorithms by collecting the raw physiological data from the devices and processing and visualizing the algorithmic results in real time onto an intuitive, web-based graphical user interface.
Using this streamlined interface, clinicians can better comprehend the continuously and rapidly evolving condition of patients. The interface also facilitates the early identification of the rising risk of harms and gives enhanced insight into the likely causes of those harms, thus enabling early intervention to avert them. The result is improved healthcare quality, more informed decision making, improved patient care quality and decreased cost.
