Evan Butler is an engineer and entrepreneur who co-founded Etiometry in 2010. Previously, he worked at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric Cardiac Bioengineering Laboratory designing, building and testing novel surgical robots and tools. Evan was also a NASA GSRP Fellow with Dryden Flight Research Center, and created intelligent flight control systems.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Aerospace Engineering, and his Masters degree in Dynamics and Control Engineering from Boston University. Evan has published conference papers, journal articles and a book chapter in the fields of medical predictive analytics, concentric tube robots and tools for minimally-invasive beating heart surgery, and intelligent flight control systems. Evan has received multiple awards, including the 2010 IEEE Transactions on Robotics Best Paper Award.
Dimitar Baronov is a co-founder of Etiometry and leads the company’s research and development organization. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Technical University in Sofia, Bulgaria and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University. Before co-founding Etiometry, Dimitar developed a theory for optimal human-machine interaction in achieving complex tasks.
This work informed the U.S. Air Force, and provides a basis for Etiometry’s innovative approach to integrating analytics into medical care. As CTO of Etiometry, Dimitar is the lead designer of the Etiometry Platform that quantifies clinical risks based on continuous streams of physiologic data. He has also served as the Principal Investigator for several National Institute of Health grants.
Dr. Jesse Lock is the Chief Medical Officer and a co-founder of Etiometry. He received a BA from Amherst College in 1997, an MD from Albany Medical College in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University in 2010. His dissertation research focused on modeling intra-cardiac robots for minimally invasive pediatric surgeries, and he has since co-authored a book chapter on predictive medical analytics.
Jesse has won several academic awards, including the graduate student Golden Apple Teaching Award, the Boston University Graduate Engineering Entrepreneurial Design Competition award and the 2010 IEEE Transactions on Robotics Best Paper Award. He is currently an adjunct staff member at Boston Children’s Hospital and maintains a pediatrics practice in nearby Lexington, Massachusetts.
Peter Rock has held various financial positions in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. He previously spent five years as vice president and corporate controller of Dyax Corp., a biotech company with revenues of $33 million a year.
While at Dyax, Peter helped to secure $32 million in venture financing and raise $69 million in IPO funding. Prior to Dyax, he held financial management positions with Avery Dennison, AEG Schneider Automation, Inc. and United Technologies Corporation. Peter received a B.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Jim Boucher has over thirty years of software development experience in a variety of application areas. He began his career in the word processing development group at Wang Laboratories building multi-lingual spelling and grammar checkers and on-line reference works. Jim also spent nine years at Symmetrix, Inc. developing workflow applications and schedulers for the manufacturing, financial services and health care industries.
Recently he was a founding member and Chief Architect at eScription, Inc. developing a speech recognition product to improve the medical transcription process. Jim brings this important process-oriented perspective and experience to the software design behind Etiometry’s solution. He graduated from Dartmouth College and holds a Ph.D. from Brown University.
Gary Gallant has over thirty years of experience as a sales, marketing and business development executive. He has had multiple successes with founding, building, managing, adapting and profitably growing start-up and early stage software technology companies. His expertise includes new product launches, first and early customer acquisition, creating and managing direct/channel sales organizations, strategic alliances, corporate management, fund raising and the mergers/acquisitions process.
Gary has sales experience with prospects from individual consumers to Fortune 500 accounts across many industries and government. His product experience ranges from mobile apps to SaaS enterprise solutions in healthcare, social networks, navigation, IT security, systems/performance management, finance and manufacturing.
